Making money from Affiliate and Traffic Exchange programs is a great way to earn extra income. Even if you sell products on your site you will find that the rate of actual purchases can be small compared to the traffic. Many sites that I deal with have only about 1-2% sales finalizing, when compared to the amount of people that click with intent to purchase. This rate can vary depending on the site and what you are offering for sale. With a Pay per click you would be getting a full 100% payout from the number of clicks on a product.
Pay per Click PPC is the best way to get guaranteed income on each click by usually the payout is very small and you need many clicks to generate a decent return.
Pay per Views PPM based on 1000 showing of an ad is great to use if you don't have a large click thru but have high traffic on your site. This form of selling advertising only works if you have a high volume of traffic to your site.
Affiliate programs work the best when you have links to sites that are similar in content to your own. People actually have to make purchases in the site for you to be paid. This can sometimes work out better than selling your own products because you don't have to deal with processing, shipping and customers. You need to be careful of click that don't count thru.
Lastly there is always to option to sell your own products or have products drop shipped. Usually this is more complicated and doesn't really pay off unless you do a high enough volume. Drop shipping is great because you don't need to stock inventory. If you buy the inventory usually you can get it for less than the drop shipping. You also then run the risk of getting stuck with unsold products and inventory.
There are also combinations of the above revenue streams, I'm always looking for new ideas to try out. Recently I signed up for Yuwie . This is a great new idea on generating revenue from signing people up to a social networking site. I will report back on my results with this service as well as others.
